approaching the garden as art
I have more than thirty years of experience in the landscape industry. I started my career as a groundskeeper for my local park during High School. Then upon graduating high school, I continued work in landscape construction where I learned professional construction practices from the best craftsmen in the industry where I gained hands-on construction and design experience.
While attending college at The Ohio State University, I worked as a Horticulturist for Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. During my years there, I became experienced in interior plant identification and culture, container design, bonsai, orchids, and cacti.
Upon receiving my degree from The Ohio State University Knowlton School of Architecture I continued to gain design experience from working on a variety of project types and scales.
I went to work for Human Nature Inc., a landscape architecture firm located in Cincinnati, OH. I worked on a variety of public projects throughout Cincinnati and Kentucky during my time with the firm. Primarily working on park planning, streetscapes, and urban design.
Then I returned to Columbus to work for Kinzelman, Kline, Gossman, Inc (now known as MKSK) where I designed streetscapes, mixed-use developments, educational campuses, assisted-living communities, commercial properties, and institutional projects.
After receiving licensure as a Landscape Architect, I returned to residential construction and design. I worked side by side with an Engineer and Architect where we navigated a talented construction team on a variety of residential and commercial projects.
Then I determined that working independently from contractors was the best decision for my clients. I now practice Landscape Architecture as a sole proprietor and I am passionate about what I do.
