The Lorax – by Dr. Seuss
The Lorax is a powerful book that provokes a call to action to conserve the earth’s precious and finite natural resources. The world is currently at risk of losing the real-life Brown Bar-ba-loots, Swornee Swams, Humming-Fish, and Truffula Trees.
This garden will display an oversized opened book. Measuring 16′ by 8′, this feature will welcome visitors into this storybook garden. Two lawn panels symbolize the pages of the book curving into the spine like two giant waves. A bookmark will stand upright between the pages inscribed with the quote “UNLESS someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
A path alongside the book will lead visitors into the garden. A street sign will read “The Street of the Lifted Lorax.” Truffula Trees will guide your way to the place the Lorax once stood before someone lifted the Lorax away. A large stump surrounded by a small pile rocks with one word engraved in one of the rocks “Unless.”
